In 2009, the total number of service stations declined by 3.3%. 8.1% of all sites in Lithuania are unmanned, including all Neste and Alexela Oil sites. In June 2010, Neste acquired Alexela’s entire network of 22 unmanned stations, with the latter becoming a subsidiary of Neste.
Total fuel volumes have been declining since 2008. In 2009, total fuel volume sold declined by 10%. In 2009, fuel prices fell for the first time since 2006 after a period of steep rises, with a decline of 1% in petrol prices and 19.8% in diesel prices.
Shops are located at 42.6% of the national service station network in Lithuania. The top three players (Lukoil, Statoil and Baltic Petroleum) account for 65% of all service station shops in Lithuania. PKN Orlen’s service station shops are branded as Stop CafĂ©. There is a car wash facility at approximately 21.1% of all service stations.
