Glyphsoate China Monthly Report 1002

Glyphsoate China Monthly Report 1002

Amid the Spring Festival, many Chinese glyphosate producers suspended production for the vacation, and the market transactions declined accordingly. Most glyphosate producers will spare no efforts in production resumption, intensely preparing for April and May, peak season for glyphosate demand.
Export volume of glyphosate technical in 2009 was almost the same as that in 2008, while export volume of PMIDA in 2009 decreased sharply. The possible reason for PMIDA demand fluctuation is profit changes of PMIDA and glyphosate technical. Chinese producers will adjust the production of these two products in line with the profit changes. For overseas buyers, they would choose purchasing PMIDA or glyphosate technical according to their costs and profits of formulations.
With current low prices of both glyphosate technical and PMIDA, it is estimated that glyphosate technical demand will keep increasing in the coming few years, but PMIDA demand is expected to shrink to certain extent.
In 2009 almost all glyphosate producers suffered a lot, and some of them even turned their attention to other products. However, some eye-catching industry incidents still demonstrate the potential prospects.
Sichuan Fuhua, an upstart, is now growing up rapidly. Its 50,000t/a glyphosate was put into trial production in Dec. 2009. Moreover, in early 2010, the company signed sales contracts with 15 clients, with value totaling USD176 million, by virtue of friendly partnership with top enterprises, diversified sales channel, complete industry chains, etc.
